Exciting times Chez Harmo for us garden nerds as Chelsea Flower Show kicks off this week with the ultimate in gardening prizes to be announced on Tuesday, Chelsea Show Garden of the Year.
Interestingly is our very own Diarmuid Gavin's garden, The Irish Sky Garden, is sponsored by Cork Co. Co and Tourism Ireland. One of the many controversial features of its 'Avatar-inspired' design is a hanging platform where guests can dine while feeling like they are flying over the glistening 21 pools of water, shaped box and luscious green leave plants below. We saw a quick clip tonight on BBC 1 and as always with Diarmuid's designs its gonna take me awhile to get use to it.
One of the few gardens I really would like to see and have as my own is the M&G Investments garden designed by Bunny Guinness, a regular on BBC Radio 4's Gardener's Question Time. The main theme is a formalised kitchen garden with intrictae planting of herb, veggies, flowers and fruit trees.
